6th Unit 4. Rainforest Rescue
Are we saying goodbye to the rainforest? — ¿Le estamos diciendo adiós al bosque lluvioso?
Las causas
| En inglés | Significa |
|---|---|
| deforestation | deforestación, pérdida de bosques |
| illegal logging | tala ilegal |
| forest fires | incendios forestales |
| farms and cattle | fincas y ganado |
| roads | carreteras |

Las consecuencias
- Many animals will lose their homes. — Muchos animales perderán su hogar.
- Some animals are endangered. — Algunos animales están en peligro de extinción.
- The soil washes away with the rain. — La lluvia se lleva el suelo.
Comparar lo malo: bad, worse, the worst
- bad — malo
- worse than — peor que: Cutting trees is worse than planting them.
- the worst — el peor: Burning the forest is the worst thing we can do.
The rainforest is the habitat of many animals.
- A: Why are the animals in danger? — ¿Por qué están en peligro los animales?
- B: Because people cut down the trees. — Porque la gente corta los árboles.
- A: What can we do? — ¿Qué podemos hacer?
- B: We can plant trees and protect the forest. — Podemos sembrar árboles y proteger el bosque.
La respuesta con because explica la causa.
Ejemplos resueltos

Para hacer espacio para fincas.
3. ¿Qué palabra falta? «Cutting down trees is ___ for the rainforest than planting them» (peor).

- Decir «badder» o «baddest». Se dice worse y the worst.
- Confundir «endangered» y «dangerous». Endangered es en peligro; dangerous, peligroso.
- Confundir «deforestation» y «reforestation».
- Olvidar el «the» en «the worst». El superlativo lleva the.
- Decir «more bad» o «worser».
- Why are rainforests disappearing? → because of deforestation / fires…
- What happens to the animals? → They lose their homes.
- ¿Cuál es el superlativo de «bad»? → the worst
