Entender

My hero is my mom because she is the kindest person I know.

Cualidades

En inglésSignifica
kindamable
honesthonesto
bravevaliente
courageousvaleroso
patientpaciente
generousgeneroso
hard-workingtrabajador
responsibleresponsable
strongfuerte
intelligentinteligente

Lo contrario: selfish (egoísta), lazy (perezoso), rude (grosero).

Describir con el verbo to be

Para decir cómo es alguien, se usa is más el adjetivo: He is brave. She is courageous. El héroe también hace cosas: He helps people. She fights for her town.

Con he o she, el verbo que no es is lleva -s: helps, fights, works.

Comparar dos personas

  • Palabras cortas: -er than: My aunt is braver than my uncle.
  • Palabras largas: more… than: My grandpa is more patient than my dad.

Strong es corta, así que hace stronger: My dad is stronger than my brother.

  • the -est: the kindest, the bravest, the strongest.
  • the most: the most generous, the most intelligent.
  • good → better → the best.
AdjetivoComparativoSuperlativo

patientmore patientthe most patient

She is the best teacher in my school.

  • Why is your hero the best of all? → Because he can help everybody.
  • How did she become famous? → She became famous when she won the race.

Of all significa «de todos». Se pone al final del superlativo: the best of all, the bravest of all. Because lleva la razón. When lleva el momento en que pasó.

Un modelo para hablar de tu héroe

My hero is my grandpa. He is hard-working and brave. He is braver than my uncle. He is the kindest person in my family. Why is he the best of all? Because he can fix anything and he always helps people.

Recordar

Los errores que más se cobran

  1. Decir «more kind». Con palabras cortas va kinder.
  2. Decir «patienter». Con palabras largas va more patient.
  3. Decir «the most good» o «gooder». Se dice better y the best.
  4. Olvidar el «than» al comparar. Braver than.
  5. Olvidar el «the» en el superlativo. The kindest, no «kindest» solo.
  6. Doblar la comparación. No se dice «more braver»: se dice braver.
  7. Contestar «Why?» sin «because». La respuesta empieza con Because.
