Forma: If + presente simple, will + verbo.
- If you miss the flight, you will have to pay a fee.
- If it rains, we will cancel the tour.
Las dos trampas del examen:
- Después de if nunca va will. Se dice If it rains, no If it will rain.
- Las dos mitades se pueden invertir: We will cancel the tour if it rains, y sin coma cuando el if va al final.
También aparece unless, que significa if not: You won't get a refund unless you have the receipt.
Emergencias en casa
fire, smoke, alarm, leak, flood, blackout, power cut, gas, broken pipe, burn, cut, fall, injury, first aid kit, extinguisher, emergency exit.
Verbos: call for help, put out the fire, turn off the gas, evacuate, escape, rescue, warn, stay calm.
Frases que aparecen siempre:
- There's a fire in the kitchen!
- Call 911 immediately.
- Turn off the electricity before you touch anything.
- Don't use the elevator.
Emergencias de viaje
delay, cancellation, missed flight, lost luggage, stolen passport, insurance, refund, compensation, gate, boarding pass, check-in, customs.
- My flight has been cancelled.
- I've lost my luggage. What should I do?
- My passport was stolen.
- Could you help me, please?
I need to get my ticket changed.
Reclamar en un restaurante
order, waiter, bill, check, tip, menu, dish, raw, overcooked, cold, burnt, wrong order, allergy, complaint, manager, apologize, replace, refund.
- Excuse me, this isn't what I ordered.
- I'm afraid my soup is cold.
- I'm allergic to peanuts. Does this dish contain nuts?
- Could you bring me the bill, please?
- Y la respuesta: I'm so sorry. I'll bring you another one right away.
I'm afraid…, Excuse me…, Could you…?
appointment, schedule, reschedule, postpone, cancel, be late, run out of time, emergency, urgent, available.
- I'm afraid I have to cancel our appointment.
- Could we reschedule for Friday?
- Something urgent came up.
- Sorry for the inconvenience.
Modales para situaciones difíciles
- should — consejo: You should call the police.
- must / have to — obligación: You must leave the building.
- could / would — pedido cortés: Could you help me?
- might — posibilidad: The flight might be delayed.
- Fijate en el tono: muchas preguntas son How does the customer feel?
- Primer condicional: if + presente, will + verbo. Nunca if will.
- unless = if not.
- Could you…? es más cortés que Can you…?
